Extra Large Woodblock Print of Shono by Hiroshige Measuring 37.7 x 53.3cm
[Japan] One of the largest woodblock prints we have ever come across. Such large prints are scarce because it required a very large piece of cherry wood to create. The smaller woodblock print is included and is actually a normal, oban-sized print. The smaller print has a censor seal at left.
Date unknown but c1900.
37.7 x 53.3cm and 24.7 x 37.9cm (including margins).
In fair condition. Both have some creasing and age wear and a few small holes. The large print has some spotting in the margins. Both are unbacked with nice bleedthrough. u38092100
