Woodblock Print View from Sengenyama of the Foreign Buildings in Yokohama by Hiroshige III
[Japan] What looks to be a very nice triptych (which it is), is actually the third, fourth and fifth panels of a 5-panel woodblock print or pentatych. The first two panels (starting from the right) are not present here. Still a very nice work showing Yokohama in its heyday of 1870. The buildings and flags of the English, French, Dutch and American consulates can be seen as well as some troops marching in a field at left.
Tokyo: Iseya Kisaburo, 1870.
each panel approx. 37.2 x 24.2cm
In good to very good condition. Some minor age wear and a few minor marks. One panel has a small green stain at lower left corner. Otherwise very good. Unbacked with nice bleedthrough. u38032037
