[Japan] [China] Somewhat lavish 'Illustrated Handbook to the East' published by the Eastern and Australian Steam Ship Company that was founded in 1873. Although a guide to 'The East', the vast majority of the book is on Japan (130 pages versus just 33 pages on other countries). The advertisements are particularly interesting and it seems the Imperial Hotel Tokyo missed the deadline for publication (!) as there are two facing pages that each read, 'This page is reserved for The Imperial Hotel, Tokio'. This is the 3rd edition though we have never seen this edition nor any others before.
