Medium Format Photo of the Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery Important photo that shows the oldest section of the cemetery
[Japan] One of the earliest known photographs of the Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery, this image was used in the September 16, 1870 issue of John Reddie Black's publication, The Far East. This particular photo is important because it proves that some graves in Section 22 of the cemetery were destroyed or moved due to subsequent earthquakes (especially the 1923 Great Kanto earthquake) because we can see that some of the headstones in the photo are not there today.
