My Adventures in Japan before the treaty came into force February 1859 by Captain Henry Holmes
[Japan] Very scarce, early work on Japan that appears only in a handful of Japanese libraries in facsimile form. A note written and inserted in 1984 presumably by a bookseller or collector states, "After a twelve year search, this book was finally found in the catalogue of Reg & Philip Remington. During this time I had never once seen it offered for sale. I have also advertised extensively for the book without success. I know for certain of only two other copies in institutional libraries."
The book contains an interesting account of Holmes' visits and brief stays in Nagasaki, Yokohama and Hakodate.
