Japan's Year by Julia Carrothers
[Japan]. Woodbock printed, plain paper, first edition of this beautiful book on the various activities of Japanese people throughout the year. This appears to be another variant with decorative silk-covered boards. It seems that Hasegawa and Carrothers decided to use embroidered silk fabric to cover the front and rear boards of what must have been a very limited number of books. 'Julia' is misspelt 'Jullia' on title page. This copy also has a 2-page list of Hasegawa's other publications at rear.
Tokyo. Hasegawa Takejiro. 1905.
25 x 18cm. 76pp + 3 single woodblock prints on crepe paper bound in as issued.
In very good condition. Silk covers with minor wear and slight fraying at edges. Internally very good. In recent, custom made folding case. b37101962
