









With Compliments of Samurai Shokai, Yokohama Order made, hanging crepe paper calendar by Hasegawa
[Japan] Woodblock printed, hanging calendar on crepe paper produced for Samurai Shokai, Yokohama. Samurai Shokai was a large, well-known store in Yokohama that sold souvenirs, antiques and other Japanese items aimed at the foreign tourist market. This is the first such Samurai Shokai calendar published by Hasegawa that we have found so is an important discovery in the history of crepe paper books in Japan. Most of the illustrations appear to be newly created for this specific calendar.
