Large Format Photo of Yokohama with Mount Fuji in the background attributed to Kusakabe Kimbei
[Japan] One of the most impressive photos of the era that we have had the pleasure of owning. A wonderful image that shows part of the quickly growing town of Yokohama with Mount Fuji in the distance. Very nicely handcoloured. Interestingly, the mount is titled at lower left in pencil, '589 Fuji from Yokohama'. The numbering and style of photo strongly suggests this was a photo taken by Kusakabe Kimbei. The photo on the rear is of the Daibutsu of Kamakura (no.473) but this is not a Kusakabe Kimbei image so presumably this was part of a composite album.
