Cach Cach Yama (Kachi Kachi Yama) Japanese Fairy Tale tr. by John Alfred
[Japan] Obscure woodblock printed, plain paper edition of the Japanese fairy tale. Although this copy doesn't mention a publisher, artist, or translator, another copy we have had was published by Mawe & Co. which had offices in Yokohama and London. The illustrations were by Inoue Yasuji (1864-1889) who was Kobayashi Kiyochika's star pupil, but died of beriberi at 25 years old and the translator was listed as Alfred John (or John Alfred) of whom nothing seems to be known.
