Large Format Photo of Main Street, Yokohama by Raimund von Stillfried
[Japan] One of the nicest photos of Main Street (Honcho-dori), Yokohama we have had the pleasure of owning. On the left we can see a group of men (from left: one Japanese man, a bearded Westerner who looks like John Reddie Black or James Dodds, two presumably British soldiers, and a Westerner who looks like Charles Rickerby in his pith helmet that he seems to have often worn). A couple of rickshaws and the building-lined street gives us a wonderful view of what this important part of Yokohama looked like in the early Meiji era. Titled at lower left in negative, 'YOKOHAMA MAIN STR. 418'.
