The Hakone District In fine condition in original hand-painted box
[Japan] A deluxe publication and very hard to find in its original, handpainted wooden box. Wenckstern mentioned the 'painted wooden box' for another of Ogawa's photobooks as costing $5. Affixed to the inside of the box lid is the orginal note explaining the collotype photo process and the quality and durability of the photos. The book is titled, 'The Hakone District, Illustrated by K. Ogawa, photographer, Tokyo. In collotype. With descriptive text by James Murdoch, M.A.'

In about fine condition. The book has some very minor spotting to cover. Internally fine. Box is good with some splits and a bit fragile but still holding. Small piece of wood missing from inner rim but box closes nicely. b37021814
