[Japan] According to the Meiji Portraits website, E. Tank (given name unknown) came to Japan in 1895 and settled in Kobe, where he worked for Greppi & Co. until 1900 when he joined Becker & Co. in Yokohama at No.40. From 1901 he is no longer listed in any subsequent directories. Inscribed on rear in German, 'With friendly memories of our first housemate', signed and dated 7 June, 1900 by Tank.
