Gubben Och Trollen - Kobutori (The Old Man and the Devils) Scarce crepe paper book in Swedish

[Japan] One of the three known Japanese fairy tales published on crepe paper in Swedish. This is a translation of Kobutori (The Old Man and the Devils) that was translated by Konni Zilliacus (1855-1924). Although this work never contained a date of publication, Zilliacus was in Japan from around 1894-1896 so this book was published during that period, probably 1896. The other two Swedish editions are Momotaro and The Tongue-Cut Sparrow. All three are difficult to find but this particular volume is the scarcest of all three.

Tokyo. Hasegawa Takejiro. c1896 (and Helsingfors. Wentzel Hagelstams Forlag).

10 leaves. 15.5 x 10.6cm.

In very good condition. Cover with a small area of abrasion at upper left. Internally very good. b36051625
