CDV of T. Van Lissa Taken in Yokohama in 1868
[Japan] Very scarce CDV on a mount labelled 'Cebr. Van Lissa' [Van Lissa Brothers] 'Photografen Yokohama'. Mysteriously, T. Van Lissa (sometimes J. Van Lissa which may be a typo) and A.H Van Lissa only appear in the Japan Directories from around 1871 until 1884, and were apparently instrument makers and armourers located at No.10 in Yokohama. This photo appears to be of T. Van Lissa and is presumably signed and dated by him 31 October 1868. Whether they were actually photographers or selling photographs with their own mounts is still a mystery.
