Exhibition of Ukiyo-ye Paintings and Prints by Bunshichi Kobayashi

[Japan] Scarce catalogue printed on fibrous Japanese paper listing 179 paintings and woodblock prints along with prices. Kobayashi's preface states that prints by Iwasa Matabei and Hokusai, '....have become so scarce that it is hardly possible to get a collection of them in the country [Japan]'. Prices range from 2 yen all the way up to 300 yen for a Hokusai painting, 400 yen for an Utamaro print, and 800 yen for a painted screen by Iwasa Matabei, a huge sum in those days.

In very good condition. Minor damage to lower right edge of cover that has been strengthened with archival paper tape. Minor worm damage affecting a small area of the first few pages. Otherwise very good. b35061422
