Japanische Dichtungen - Weissaster Scarce edition on torinoko paper

[Japan] The crepe paper edition of this book is quite common, the plain paper (hosho-gami) edition is quite scarce, but this is the first example on very fine torinoko paper that we have found. Torinoko paper was and is very expensive. The book is about half the thickness of the hosho paper edition. Interestingly, the pages are uncoloured so one wonders if this may have been a test work by Hasegawa. Housed in what appears to be its original card sleeve, this is a lovely book. Art by Arai Yoshimune and Mishima Shoso.

Tokyo, Hasegawa Takejiro & Leipzig, C.F. Amelang's Verlag. 1895.

48 leaves (including covers). 25.1 x 18.5cm.

In fine condition. Just a hint of wear to the top and bottom of spine. Silk spine covering is intact. Card sleeve with some wear and marks but still very good. b35021339
