Souvenir of Glimpses at Ukiyo-ye and Nishiki-ye Brocade Prints of Japan by P. Neville Barnett

[Japan] Very scarce, limited edition, privately published while the Second World War was raging. Barnett states that this book was produced because the two books referred to in the title, 'Glimpses at Ukiyo-ye' (1940) and 'Nishiki-ye: Brocade Prints of Japan' (1941) were printed in such small numbers (11 copies and 15 copies respectively), so he wanted to give others an opportunity to see some of the book-plates used. According to Diane Kraal in her book, 'From Chatswood to Edo - The Life & Books of P. Neville Barnett' (Diane Kraal, 2007), "the booklet has three rare Japanese bookplates (designed for Barnett)....". This revised edition, published three months after the first edition was limited to just 30 signed and numbered copies, this being 'twenty-three'. The layout and text is slightly different from the first edition and has two Barnett bookplates, not three. Inscribed to Leigh Scott by Barnett.
