Nippon Yusen Kaisha Poster Wonderful design, dated 1913
[Japan] Scarce, colour lithograph poster promoting the Japan Mail Steamship Co. (NYK), showing a lovely Japanese lady gazing pensively as she stands against what looks like the lacquered wooden railings of a temple. Is she dreaming about travelling overseas or looking forward to greeting a visitor to Japan or both? A steamship in the background and cherry blossoms in the foreground complete the poster and create an enticing scene.
[Tokyo] Nippon Yusen Kaisha. 1913 [probably printed 1912]. Printed by Mitsuma, Tokyo.
