Kita Ezo Zusetsu - Illustrated Books on Sakhalin Complete Set of 4 Books by Mamiya Rinzo
[Japan] Wonderful, complete set of four books in excellent condition. Volumes 1 and 4 are superbly illustrated by Utagawa Sadahide (aka Gountei or Hashimoto Gyokuransai), and volumes 2 & 3 by an artist named Jutansai. Mamiya Rinzo (1775-1844), was a well-known Japanese explorer, famous for mapping the island of Sakhalin which the title of this book ('Kita Ezo' or 'North Hokkaido') actually refers to.

Volume 1 - 33 leaves, Volume 2 - 26 leaves, Volume 3 - 30 leaves, Volume 4 - 37 leaves. Each 26.3 x 18.2cm.
In very good condition. All original title slips present but with minor loss. Internally very good to fine. Volume 2 has a 5cm worm trail affecting about 4 leaves. Otherwise very good. In custom made folding case. b34111290
