Illustrated Catalogue of S. Kuwada & Sons Fascinating photographic equipment catalogue
[Japan] Very scarce and important 300-page catalogue of the Osaka-based photographic equipment company run by Shozaburo Kuwada and his sons. We believe it contains the only known image of Kuwada himself and his sons. The catalogue also contains photographic illustrations of their showrooms and stores as well as the huge range of equipment they dealt in. The section on photographic mounts is also interesting in that it shows Kuwada was supplying many well known Japanese photographers of the time including Ueno Hikoma of Nagasaki and Tamemasa of Kobe, along with others in Seoul, Shanghai and Russia.
Osaka. Kuwada Shozaburo. 1901.
pp, 2, 64, , 218, . 22.7 x 15.1cm.
In very good condition. Covers with minor wear at edges. The colophon page affixed inside the rear cover as issued but has a closed tear at the lower left and is a bit mottled due to a different kind of paper being used. Otherwise very good. b33081032
