Japanese Story-Tellers from the French of Jules Adam by Osman Edwards

[Japan] Lovely crepe paper book published by Hasegawa. The book gives an outline of Japanese rakugo-ka (story tellers) and also covers the author's attempts to find the Australian-born rakugo story teller Kairakutei Black (actually Henry Black, who was the son of John Reddie Black). One of the names on the signboard facing the title page reads 'Eikokujin Burakku' [Black the Englishman]. A fine example of this book and with a list of Hasegawa's other publications at the end of the book.

Tokyo. Hasegawa Takejiro. 1912 (the first was 1899).

28pp. 19.3 x 13.8cm.

In fine condition. A hint of wear to the front cover only. b33070990
