Early photo of Westerners Drinking with Japanese Attendants Uncoloured albumen photo

[Japan] Scarce, early, medium format photo of four Westerners with two Japanese men and one Japanese youth. There is a bottle of wine and a decanter on the table at the left. The Western men are possibly European. The man on the right has a pipe in his hand. The Japanese man on the right and the Japanese youth appear to have the same crest ('mon') on their kimono that may help identify them. The photo has been professionally mounted with a paper frame inside a stiff card folder. The photo can be removed if desired.

Probably Nagasaki. Photographer unknown (possibly Ueno Hikoma). c1870 (or earlier).

20.2 x 15cm.

In very good condition. There is an old crease running across and down the centre indicating the photo was folded at some time. Otherwise very good. p31090386
