Reishin Gajo - Wonderful Pair of Woodblock Printed Design Books by Matsui Yukoku
[Japan] Simply stunning designs can be found in this matching pair of books by the elusive Matsui Yukoku. The Japanese title is 'Reishin Gajo'. Volume 1 contains 24 pages of designs plus one long fold-out at the beginning. Volume 2 has 26 pages of designs. Some have silver highlights. An impressive pair of books. The publisher, Honda Ichijiro, was the brother of Unsodo's Yamada Naosaburo and of Honda Kinnosuke who, between them, published a large portion of the best Kyoto design books in the Meiji era.

Overall in very good condition. Two tissue leaves torn with loss in volume 1. Wear to covers and old label on front cover of volume 2. Old tape repairs inside front and rear covers of volume 2 and some pages separated at leading edge. Designs are all very good to fine and unaffected by the faults mentioned. b33050937
