The Stolen Prince - A Legend of Old Japan by Mrs Hugh Fraser

Told in Living Pictures. Arranged by Mr. Aisaku Hayashi and Mr. Fredrick A. Thomson. Entertainment for the benefit of the widows and orphans of Japanese soldiers and sailors.

The Belascoe Theatre. May 12th, 1905.

Scarce publication made for the performance of this play that was given to support those affected in Japan by the Russo-Japanese War. Signed by Aisaku Hayashi who worked for Yamanaka & Co. and later became manager of the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo. This copy was given by Hayashi to Frederick W. Gookin who presumably attended the performance. Fraser published a book titled, 'The Stolen Emperor' in 1904 so this appears to be related to that book.

In good condition. Covers worn and a bit chipped and darkened at edges. 3cm closed tear at lower left of front cover. Old water stain at top of front and rear cover that strangely hasn't affected any of the pages inside. b32110758
