Shukindo Kansho Yokyo compiled by Yamataka Nobutsura
[Japan] Large format, unusual, woodblock printed book showing various types of jugs, pots, and candlestick holders along with the names of the artists who made them. According to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 'Yamataka Nobutsura (1842–1907) was sent by the Japanese government to various international exhibitions in the Bakumatsu and Meiji periods. In later life he was the director of both the Kyoto National Museum and the Nara National Museum; he was also a literati painter who studied under Tsubaki Chinzan.' It appears only this first volume was ever published.

In very good condition. Covers a bit worn with some stains and two short worm holes that slightly affect the first two leaves. A few pages have some minor transfer of colour to facing pages. Internally very good. The name 'Honjo Takesuke, Kyoto' is written on the rear cover. b33030872
