CDV of Japanese Woman in Kimono by Wilhelm Willmann Scarce photo on Yokohama studio mount
[Japan] Hand-coloured carte-de-visite of a Japanese lady in kimono holding a pipe. Very few Willmann photos with his studio mount exist today. His given name was Wilhelm but sometimes listed as William in English language publications of the day. He first came to Japan in 1866 and left in 1874. The rear studio design mount states, 'W. Willmann's Photographic Establishment. 59 Mainstreet Yokohama Japan'.
