Eibunten - Early English Grammar Study Book by T. S. Pinneo
Variant edition of the classic on English grammar by Timothy Stone Pinneo (1804-93) first published in the U.S. in the early 1850s. This book was first published in Japan in 1869 by Shokodo for use by Keio Gijuku University. This variant edition has no publishing information and just three copies are held in Japan (one each at Tokyo, Kyoto and Hokkaido Universities). The text is identical to the first edition of 1869 though the format is slightly different.

In good condition. Covers worn but original title slip present. 'Pinneo's English Grammar' has been neatly written on the title slip. Inside the front cover is the previous owner's name of Kumagai Sen'ichiro and a message dated 1874. Internally very good with some age wear, a few stray marks and old archival tape inside the front cover at the binding. Rear cover also with an old date and Kumagai's name crossed out.
