Large format photo of European Couple with Japanese and Chinese staff Superb, sharp image
Very nice albumen photo of a Western couple (presumably European) along with another Western man (who has a passing resemblence to Thomas Glover) with a white cockatoo on his knee. There are also three Chinese staff and two Japanese staff. The Japanese lady on the left and the Western lady both have nicely decorated paper fans in their right hands indicating the season. The chair the Western lady is sitting on has an emboidery folded on the back of it. The letters 'SE' or 'USE' can be made out so it may be possible to identify who the sitters are with some further research. Possibly taken in Nagasaki but Shanghai is more likely based on the building style.
