Large Format Photo of Matsudaira Yasunao & Kyogoku Takaaki Taken in Hong Kong by Milton M. Miller
Extremely rare, large format photo taken in Hong Kong when Matsudaira Yasunao (also known as Yasuhide 1830-1904) and Kyogoku Takaaki (? - 1864) were on their way to Europe in 1862 as part of The First Japanese Embassy to Europe. One of a number of photos that are amongst the earliest large format photos ever taken of Japanese people. The members were away from January 1862 to January 1863. Milton M. Miller was based in Hong Kong from 1860-64.

In excellent original condition. Slight darkening around edge on rear of photo. Photo was professionally removed from thick page it was mounted on along with its caption (also included here).
