CDV of Omura Matsujiro taken in Plymouth, UK
Lovely CDV of Omura Matsujiro (1851-79), taken while he was studying in England. Matsujiro was the adopted son of Omura Masujiro (1824-69), however he died at 28 years old, just 5 years after this photo was taken. Signed and dated in Japanese on the front. 'Prince Omura Japanese' written in English below the portrait. Also signed on the rear with a message that is difficult to read but may be the name of a Japanese person he gave the CDV to.
