Fabulous and scarce rangaku (Dutch study) book explaining how to operate gun batteries. Originally written in 1844 by Erven Doorman and published in The Hague (then known as 'S Gravenhage). This first and only edition published in Japan appeared 11 years later in 1856 by a person named Hosomi (given name unknown). Two of the pages are half pages as issued. The Japanese title is Soho Shohan (操礟捷範). Each page numbered at the top with roman numerals.

In very good condition. Minor wear to covers and internally. Cover with a light crease running diagonally down.
