Yokohama Shinpo - Moshiogusa (15 volumes) by Eugene Van Reed & Kishida Ginko

15 issues of this early periodical first published in 1868 and ended in 1870 with Volume 42 (included here). Van Reed was quite active in the early days of Yokohama but died at 37 on board a ship heading for San Francisco. Also controversially arranged the first group of Japanese labourers to go to Hawaii in 1868. Vol. 16 contains one illustration and Vol. 20 contains a map of Hawaii. Multiple articles on the CSS Stonewall ironclad vessel as well.

 

Volumes 10-13, 16, 19, 20, 34-38, 40-42.

 

Each 12-18pp. 17.8 x 12.3cm.

Overall very good. Some wear and curled corners to some volumes. Vol. 20 with lower string binding tie loose. Minor creasing to some volumes.
