With Kurofune Kan seal at top of first page.

 

Actually a version of Kankai Ibun full of illustrations with short descriptions. Follows the group of Japanese sailors of the Wakamiya-maru which was shipwrecked and then rescued by a Russian vessel. They were away from Japan from 1792 to 1804 and even met the then Czar of Russia in St. Petersburg. They were returned to Japan by the voyage of Krusenstern in 1803-6.

In very good condition. A couple of minor worm trails affecting the top and lower parts of some pages. Some wear and a few images with some dark marks. Some old repairs, nothing major. Covers and string binding replaced at some point. Very rare.
