Hand written manuscript with illustrations. A fascinating account containing a wealth of information and impressions of the so called Black Ships. Also includes lists of the gifts exchanged between the two countries (the US presented the Shogun with a working model of a train which is also pictured here).
Dated 1854 (presumably written that year or very soon after).
94pp incl. 9 wonderful hand drawn illustrations and 9 blank pages at the rear of the book. 24.2 x 16.6cm.
In very good condition with some wear and staining to tops of pages. A few very minor worm holes.
