Ukiyoe Triptych of 3 Kabuki Actors with Inro Visible by Toyokuni III (Utagawa Kunisada)

Lovely, colour woodblock printed triptych showing three kabuki actors from a scene in the play, 'Inochigake Iro no Nibanme'. Although a netsuke is not visible, the centre panel shows an actor playing a lady who has an inro hanging from her kimono sash (obi) which is very unusual to see in a ukiyoe print.

Toyokuni III (Utagawa Kunisada). c1847-52.

73.8cm x 36cm.

In good condition. The triptych is joined and has been folded down the right side of the first panel and at the joint of the centre and third panels. Some stains at the top of the centre panel and general age wear. Unbacked with nice bleedthrough. u29120025b
